Health, Safety and Environmental Policy

Strategy Improvers fully accepts its responsibilities under The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. In addition, we encourage all employees, associates, clients and stakeholders to go beyond the Act and behave in ways that ensure their own safety and the safety of others. We also encourage all stakeholders to act responsibly with regard to the environment.

Strategy Improvers will:

  • Assess the risks in the workplace.
  • Have written health and safety procedures
  • Ensure that the workplace satisfies health, safety and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting and staff facilities.
  • Ensure safe access to and egress from the building, including fire exits.
  • Regularly check the premises room by room for structural defects, worn fixture and fittings or electrical equipment, and take the necessary remedial action
  • Ensure that equipment is suitable for its intended use and is properly maintained and used.
  • Ensure that staff members are aware of the fire procedure and regular fire drills are carried out.
  • Ensure that staff members are aware of the procedure in case of accidents.
  • Ensure that staff members are aware of and carry out their health and safety responsibilities as set out in their job descriptions.
  • Prohibit smoking on the premises.
  • Prohibit any contractor working on the premises without prior discussion with the officer in charge to negate any risks to the staff or users.
  • Provide appropriate protective clothing if required.
  • Encourage all stakeholders to undertake recycling and waste reduction, including the reduction of greenhouse and polluting gasses and liquids.

The Management and Directors consider this matter of such importance, that breach of health and safety procedures by staff constitutes misconduct and will be dealt with seriously.

Employees, visitors and clients will also be made aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and will be asked to:

  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others around them.
  • Co-operate with management on matters of health and safety including for example reverse parking, holding hand rails when ascending and decenting stairs and getting assistance when carrying load over 25kg.
  • Use all work equipment correctly.
  • Never behave in any way which might intimidate or encourage others to work unsafely.
