Improving Working Environments
An enthusiastic, loyal workforce is good for business and we know that motivation is not only a matter of money.
Often, employee discontent causes drops in productivity, quality and friendliness and an increase in customer complaints. The difficulty is that senior managers often don’t get to hear of the dissatisfaction until it becomes a major issue.
When an employee complaints or problem becomes serious, they are more more difficult, costly and time-consuming to correct.
A twice yearly employee satisfaction survey can:
- Identify issues to be looked at well in advance of them becoming serious. What seems like a problem often isn’t and a simple explanation puts people’s minds at ease.
- Show that real problems can be fixed very easily. In one case, our client’s purchase of an industrial washing machine/drier improved morale in a factory from “poor” to “great”. For another client, great dissatisfaction in an office over a six-month period was fixed by moving a shredding machine down the corridor to a print room and moving a photocopier from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor of a three-story building.
- Show managers as proactive and this in turn shows employees that management cares. This alone can boost morale and productivity.
One of the secrets of getting feedback on employee satisfaction is to keep it simple. And keep the bureaucracy of form-filling to a minimum. Strategy Improvers can assist with its straightforward QIK® Survey. We not only identify problems – but give several solutions too.
